When your bike is in need of repair and/or a little love, there's no better place to bring it than The Bike Surgeon. We employ some of the most experienced, talented bicycle mechanics in southern Illinois.

Whether a simple cable adjustment or a complex suspension repair, we have the expertise and experience to diagnose the problem, make the repair and stand behind our work.

Scheduling your service

Simple repairs like replacing a punctured tube or installing an accessory can generally be done while you wait. You should call ahead to make sure we have time to do your repair while you wait.

For most repairs you will need to leave your bike with us for a few days. New Bike Purchase free first tune-ups are done within 24 hours. When you bring your bike in to our store, you will be given a repair assessment, price estimate and turnaround time for the repair. *In the event additional labor or parts are needed to complete the repair, prices may be adjusted and you will be notified.

During the peak season (March 1 - October 31) the time it takes to complete repairs unfortunately gets a bit longer. We make every effort to keep the maximum turnaround to 3 days or less, however depending on the nature of the repair and the availability of parts, it can take longer.

Bike Fitting Services:

cleat fitting, bike fitting, bike fitting with aero bars, advanced bike fitting, performance bike fitting. All fittings are charged at the hourly rate of $50.00/hour. With bike purchase of over $2000 bike fitting is performed at no charge. Call to schedule an appointment. Please give 24hr cancellation notice.

  • Shop rate $50.00 per Hour
  • Minimum Service Fee $5.00
  • Charge for extra dirty/rusty bikes $10
  • Cancelled Service On Bikes (after check-in) $10.00
  • Disposal of Unwanted Bikes $10.00
  • Labor rates based on parts purchased from The Bike Surgeon. A 50% labor surcharge will apply with your new parts not purchased at The Bike Surgeon.

Tune-ups

Tune-ups Are Recommended Every 2,000-4,000 Miles!

Basic Tune Up $30

A Basic Tune Up includes the following:

  • Basic Wheel True
  • Adjust Brakes and Gears
  • Air the Tires
  • Lubricate Chain and Cassette
Full Tune Up $60

A Full Tune up Includes the Following:

  • True, Tension and Round the Wheels
  • Adjust All Bearing Surfaces Externally - Front and Rear Hubs, Bottom Bracket and Headset
  • Adjust Brakes and Gears
  • Air the Tires
  • Lubricate Chain and Cassette
  • Wipe Down the Frame

Note: Added surcharge for extra dirty/rusty bikes *Price does not include labor for suspension or hydraulics.

Overhaul

Return Your Ride To Optimal Condition. Recommended Every 5,000 - 7,000 Miles!

Overhaul $120 (summer rate; winter rate $100)

  • $35 plus the cost of shipping. Insurance is offered by UPS.  Includes packing material and box.  Domestic only

  • Flat Repair $5.00/wheel + price of tube
  • True Wheel $15.00 to $20.00
  • Replace spoke and true front wheel $20.00 to $25.00
  • Replace spoke and true rear wheel $25.00 to $30.00
  • Builds
    • Front Wheel $40.00 (plus parts)
    • Rear Wheel $45.00 (plus parts)
    • Specialty Wheel (i.e. tubeless, etc.) $60.00

Brake Adjustments

  • Front and rear brake adjustments, $5-$15/each depending on complexity; $10 to install new pads (plus the price of the pads); new cable & housing not included

Derailleur Adjustments

  • $5-$15 depending on complexity

Accessory Installation

  • Change Stem and or Handlebar $15.00 to $30.00
  • Tape Handlebars $12.00
  • Rear Rack $15.00
  • BarEnds $10.00
  • Fenders $20.00
  • Baby Seat (We only install seats purchased at The Bike Surgeon) $20.00

Handle Bar Computer Installation

  • Computer Single Dual Pickup $15.00 to $25.00
  • Computer battery install and reprogram $10.00
